Last week, OKE Club had a great pleasure to host Hon Yip as a guest speaker. He is a second-generation Hong Kong immigrant in the UK, who grew accustomed to the challenges and adversity of growing up in a strict Chinese household. His journey has taken him through several careers, painful failures turned around into fulfilling successes in his personal and professional life. Hon has coached many clients from various backgrounds but is particularly popular and successful with East Asian professionals. With a powerful and resourceful network, Hon is connected to numerous entrepreneurs and has worked with the UK’s highest paid coach.
The main theme of the event was “How to Create Success, Prosperity and Lead a Fulfilling Life”. The speech and discussions allowed attendees to get clear on their goals so they can live more purposefully, create a better work-life balance and develop high self-confidence for achieving great goals. During the event, Hon shared a lot of information regarding in particular Asian professionals and entrepreneurs. He made it clear that although 7% of Asians are happy and 69% are comfortable with their lives, almost 72% of them have unclear goals and ambitions. Furthermore, 63% of them are not willing to take a leap of faith in themselves. This talk tried to change this status quo. It helped both well-established and coming entrepreneurs to get rid of bad habits and adjust their lives for a long-term meaningful journey.
One of the most important concepts that Hon presented were the seven pillars of life and prosperity which included clarity, confidence, self-love, emotional resilience, performance, environment and authenticity. During the event, he went one by one through all those concepts with practical exercises which allowed attendees not only to listen to the theory but put it straight into practice to achieve a more meaningful and fulfilling life. At the end, there was a brief Q&A session which allowed for more personal questions regarding specific career problems and how to get over them with pride and confidence.
Overall, it was another successful event which achieved goals that are at the core of OKE Club’s mission: “to create a community of entrepreneurs who can help each other on this long and complicated journey.”
