Greater Bay Area: New Field of Opportunity

The Greater Bay Area (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area) is an exciting new initiative that aims to bring together the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao with nine cities in Guangdong (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing). They form a mega city cluster that will become a world-class leading bay economy of global innovation, finance and trade.

It should be noted that the population of the Greater Bay Area is more than the whole of the UK and twice that of Canada. Also, The Greater Bay Area occupies less than 1% of China’s land area but contributes 12 % of GDP.

With a string of follow-up measures put in place, the Greater Bay Area witnessed steady development. Cities in the area have built increasingly closer ties with each other and achieved much easier flow of talent, goods and capital.

The Greater Bay Area has provided lots of opportunities for construction companies in Hong Kong and Macao to develop their businesses in mainland areas. As for the mainland, for example, the government of Zhuhai plans to develop the city into "the most attractive place" for talents across the world in the nation's efforts to build up the Greater Bay Area. Young people with technological knowledge are welcomed to build up their business at the Innovalley HQ, also known as the Hengqin-Macao Youth Innovation Valley based in Zhuhai.

There is great potential in the Greater Bay Area, with numerous opportunities for a bright future.
