Do I need to know how to code to be a successful entrepreneur?

As always, it depends. If your business is related to FinTech, software etc. and you are closely related to the product development, then it is crucial to master coding skills. However, often you can find specialists who can take care of the technical side. If that’s the case, should you still bother learning any coding languages like Python? Well, yes.

It would be great to master at least the basics of a system which your company will use so that you are efficient in delivering tasks. If a coder or a web developer, hears: “I won’t it to look nice” or “I want it to be good”, they will be furious as those kinds of comments lack any details and make it difficult to realise where lays the problem. Getting at least basics of coding through YouTube videos or free online courses will allow you to understand and “feel” the software. Thus, instead of saying “there is a problem with the website” you can say “html seems ok but I think there is a bug in the PHP form”. This will make your and your employees’ work much more efficient and enjoyable.

Will you be able to code on app or a professional website on your own after that? Probably not. It usually takes a significant amount of time to master those skills. However, even those basics will allow you to create well formulated tasks and improve overall team communication.
