1921 Movie Premiere

On 6th of July, the OKE Club had an amazing off-line movie premiere event with Trinity CineAsia at the Mayfair Hotel. The movie that was shown was the film 1921 directed by Mr Huang Jianxin. The film was about the history behind the founding of the Chinese Communist Party in the year 1921. The movie is part of the centenary celebration of the Chinese Communist Party. The OKE Club believed that it is extremely important for people from both the UK and China to understand their differences on political ideology and system but also work hard on finding common ground to cooperate. That was why the club was encouraging its members to attend the movie premiere and watched the film. It is a great way to resolve cultural differences and also increase the members’ understanding on the complicated modern history of China. Many of OKE Club’s non-Chinese members attended the event and showed great enthusiasm for the film and the history behind it.

The event kicked off at 7p.m with guests arriving and checked in with the reception. They were then led to the wine reception in the lounge of the hotel before the movie started. The Managing Director of the OKE Club Mr Victor Kovalets and the Head of the Event Team Miss Yiru Chang both attended the wine reception and had great exchanges with the special guests from different sectors. Many of the OKE Club members also attended the first wine reception and were greeted warmly by both Victor and Yiru. Some other OKE members were greeted by the Content Officer of the OKE Club Mr Peter Xiao at the general reception of the hotel and they had great exchanges on the past offline networking dinner that they attended. Many of them also had great expectations for this event.

Before the movie started, Mr Cedric Behrel , the Managing Director of CineAsia gave a general introduction about the film and the company’s plan to screen it all around the UK. Following the address by Mr Behrel, the movie officially started and the whole audience began to enjoy the movie. The movie was nearly two hours long and the plot was really engaging and fast moving. After the movie finished, all of the OKE Club members were led to another wine reception at the lounge. The purpose for this wine reception was to let OKE members to network and sharing ideas with each other. It was also a great occasion for the new members to get to know committee members and other old members. Both red and white wine were served at the wine reception and all of the attendees really enjoyed them. The Managing Director of the OKE Club Mr Kovalets also gave a general introduction about the club and its missions to the new members. He also began the introduction part of the event by giving an interesting self introduction. All of the other attendees also gave a general introduction about themselves and the sectors they work in. The networking wine reception was fun and warm for all of the attendees. The event wrapped up around 11.30p.m.

Many of the OKE members who attended the event had really positive feedbacks on the movie premiere and the wine reception afterwards. Many of them shared pictures of the event on their WeChat moments and other social media accounts. A lot of them also expressed their gratitude for the OKE Club for organising the event alongside CineAsia. This has given them the great opportunity to become the first audience of the movie 1921. The OKE Club will continue to work hard on organising high quality events for our members and also continue to collaborate with many of our potential partners in many fields.
